Central Punjab made a powerful comeback within the Quaid-e-Azam trophy to qualify for the ultimate. Central Punjab defeated Southern Punjab by ten wickets within the final round to book their place within the final for the second consecutive season.
The defending
champions lost their first three games of the tournament under Captain Azhar
Ali and were winless in four before Captain Hasan Ali inspired them to 3
consecutive victories. Central Punjab was at rock bottom of the table after
five rounds. The team then went on to win four of their last five matches,
moving to second dwelling within the table, before Southern Punjab and
Northern.
The final are going to
be played between KPK and Central Punjab from January 1 at National Stadium
Karachi.
KPK has been the team
to beat all over the tournament, cataloging five wins out of ten matches and
topping the table with 161 points. Northern and Southern Punjab’s inconsistent
performances within the tournament led them to end out of the highest two spots
within the final standings.
KPK faced Northern
within the tenth round, and therefore the match led to a draw, which meant
Northern finished fifth on the table.
Meanwhile, Baluchistan
defeated rock bottom of the table Sindh by nine wickets to end fourth. Moreover,
Southern Punjab’s defeat left them on third after ten rounds of play.
